Practice of Counseling & Psychotherapy
Hello, and welcome! I am Tricia L. Lipka, M.S.W., L.C.S.W. (NC: C005568) (NPI: I083958508) (Trish Johnson), a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker in private practice offering individual therapy, as well as groups and classes for health and healing. I hope this information about myself, my practice of counseling and psychotherapy, and teaching is helpful to you.
I am deeply committed to helping people develop a healthier mind-body-spirit connection and a greater ability to be more fully present for themselves, their lives and their loved ones. As an experienced therapist who is familiar with a wide range of mental health issues, my practice focus includes anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, reproductive issues, managing stress and life transitions, relationship difficulties, problems with eating, weight and body image, mindful parenting, meeting life challenges more skillfully, working with acceptance and change, and growing toward greater awareness, integration and well-being.
I earned my Bachelor's in Art (English major) from the University of Notre Dame and my Master's in Clinical Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, MA. My background includes training at Duke University and the Duke University Medical Center, the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine and the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program at Duke, the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas (PCC), and the Thomas Jefferson University Medical College in Philadelphia. Previously, I worked as a staff psychotherapist, group leader and educator at Structure House, a nationally recognized residential treatment facility focused on health and lifestyle change. In addition to my clinical and teaching roles, I also have a background in healthcare executive-level project administration, strategic planning, marketing and communications.
With a lifelong interest in the underpinnings of mind-body-spirit health, my approach is integrative and dynamic. I have maintained a personal mindfulness meditation practice since 2000, including intensive retreats. I am particularly interested in conscious relational embodiment.
My practice is convenient to a variety of communities in the greater Raleigh / Triangle area of North Carolina, and I offer virtual appointments as well. I look forward to the possibility of meeting you!
